Below is a list of the questions most frequently asked by our customers. If you do not find the answer to your question below please contact us at 800-777-5655 x-10.
Q: Can I purchase any of your items locally?
A: Unfortunately, our products are not yet available through retailers or home improvement centers. We hope retailers will recognize our brand of energy and water saving products and make them available to satisfy the requests we get for those looking to stop and shop locally. For now, our website remains the place to get the best buys on conservation supplies.
Q: Are any of your weatherstripping products available to homeowners in less than case quantities?
A: Yes, we have several lines of weatherstripping specifically geared for homeowners who wish to purchase in less than case quantities. Please visit the weatherstrip section of our website and check out our KC600 Foam Tite Weatherstrip, our Kerf Q-Lon® Door Seal, V-Seal Weatherstrip, Foam Weatherstrip, and our Sub-Zero EPDM Weatherstrip.
Q: What is the difference between Open-cell and Closed-cell Foam Weatherstrip?
A: Open-cell foam is soft - The cell walls, or surfaces of the bubbles, are broken and air fills all of the spaces in the material. This makes the foam soft, resulting in easier compression. Closed-cell foam has varying degrees of hardness, depending on its density. Most of the cells or bubbles in the foam are not broken; they resemble inflated balloons piled together. The cells are full of a special gas, selected to make the insulation value of the foam as high as possible. The advantages of the closed-cell foam compared to open-cell foam include its strength, higher R-value, and greater resistance to the leakage of air or water vapor. The disadvantage of the closed-cell foam is that it is denser, requiring more material, and therefore, more expense but provides a better R-value. Both types of foam are commonly used in most building applications. For example, you typically would not use open-cell foam below grade where it could absorb water; this would negate its thermal performance because water is a poor insulator compared to air. Closed-cell foam would be a good choice where greatest air sealing and R-value per inch are required.
Q: I am not having my items shipped within the US or Canada. How do I get my shipping cost?
A: Due to the many invariables associated with international shipping rates, our shopping cart does not cost shipping at the point of purchase. For international shipping rates (those outside the Continental US), simply place your order and a representative will email your shipping cost for approval. Upon approval, your order will be processed and shipped.
Q: Do you accept returns, and if so what is your return policy?
A: If you decide you would like to return a product, please contact our customer service department at 800-777-5655 x-10 to arrange for the return of your product(s). Please be aware, a 20% restocking fee may apply. Also be sure to review our Terms and Conditions link on the bottom of our homepage for our complete return policy.
Q: Where can I find information on the mercury in CFLs and what to do if a fluorescent light bulb breaks?
A: For more information about mercury in energy saving light bulbs and bulb breakage visit the Energy Star website at http://www.energystar.gov/ia/partners/promotions/change_light/downloads/Fact_Sheet_Mercury.pdf .
